The Chairperson of the KLP reports to the Assembly: Major challenge, vacancies

The Chairperson of the High Prosecutorial Council, Mirela Bogdani, is reporting to the Parliament on the institution's activities for 2024.

Bogdani stated that 46 ethical and professional evaluation reports of prosecutors have been completed. She also said that 23 candidates who have attended the initial training at the Magistrate's School have been verified, a process she described as the entry vetting.

Bogdani noted that vacancies in the prosecution system continue to be a major challenge. She stated that for 2024 there were 218 prosecutors, while currently there are 284.

"We have completed 46 ethical and professional evaluation reports of prosecutors. It has been a maximum commitment of all KLP and prosecutors assigned to it who do the preliminary work. The Council has continued the verification process for 25 candidates who have followed the initial training of Magistrates, otherwise known as the Entry Vetting. We have verified 23 of them. Regarding the vacancies in the prosecution system. It has been a major challenge due to the effect and consequences of the transitional re-evaluation process of judges and prosecutors. The Council has taken measures to guarantee the functionality of the institutions. 218 prosecutors for 2024. We currently have 284 prosecutors. 57 permanent vacancies and 39 temporary vacancies. 3 disciplinary procedures have been conducted, in two cases the ILD request was rejected, in the other a different disciplinary measure than the one requested was imposed.
