For 10 days in Hygeia Hospital/ How is Fatos Nano's health condition?

For 10 days, former Prime Minister Fatos Nano has been in serious health condition, hospitalized in the intensive care unit of Hygeia Hospital.

CNA has confirmed from official sources that the former Prime Minister has shown a serious condition and this is repeated. He suffers from several chronic diseases and his condition, according to officially provided data, appears to be quite serious.

The former prime minister was admitted to the private Hygeia hospital almost 10 days ago where he continues to receive intensive treatment, as mentioned above, for a number of illnesses.

Fatos Nano has been Prime Minister of Albania three times, in 1991, 1997-1998 and 2002-2005, and has led the Socialist Party for 14 years.

Fatos Nano began his political career in 1991 after being elected Secretary of the Council of Ministers and then Prime Minister in the Transitional Government, which was established to prepare the country for the transition to a market economy and a democratic system. That same year, he was elected Chairman of the Socialist Party.

Fatos Nano was elected prime minister after the SP's victory in the 1997 snap elections, but in September 1998 he resigned after the assassination of former DP founder Azem Hajdari.

Nano became Prime Minister again in July 2002. On July 3, 2005, the Socialist Party lost the elections and its majority in Parliament. On September 1, 2005, Fatos Nano resigned as leader of the Socialist Party, finally retiring from active politics./ CNA
