Iran is adapting and enhancing the capabilities of its ballistic missile, the Kheibar Shekan, to better penetrate air defense systems, according to a report in the prestigious media outlet "Wall Street Journal".

The name Kheibar Shekan, meaning "he who destroys castles," refers to a Jewish castle that was conquered by Muslim warriors in the early years of Islam.

According to the report, Iran is increasingly relying on this weapons system for its attacks in the region. The missile has a range of 1,450 kilometers, which allows it to easily strike both Gulf countries and Israel.

In recent weeks, as hostilities have intensified, Iranian forces have used the missile in attacks on US targets in the region, frequently changing its trajectory, speed and maneuverability to make it more difficult to intercept. Some models of the missile are capable of performing last-minute maneuvers during the final stages of flight, which allows them to evade interceptors.

A US official, speaking to the 'WSJ', stated that most of the Kheibar Shekan missiles launched into the region were successfully intercepted, but some managed to penetrate defenses using advanced methods, which indicates that the Iranians are studying interceptor missiles and learning how to bypass them more effectively.
