The Chairperson of the KLP, Mirela Bogdani, shared details today regarding the process for the competition for the new head of the National Bureau of Investigation.

In her speech during her report to the Laws Committee, Bogdani said that the institution she heads is waiting for SPAK to send the name of the person who will be appointed to this position.

Bogdani added that this process is expected to be concluded soon and that the KLP is continuing with a passive and formal approach, as defined in the law.

"We are waiting for the Special Prosecution Office, the group that was established for this purpose, to bring the name of the person who will command according to the law, to be appointed by the KLP as the leader. That's the information we have officially."

I believe that it is a process that will be concluded soon, but I cannot tell you a timeframe. Perhaps it may be time for the Council to show a proactive role regarding the procedure followed, but according to Article 33 of Law 35, the role is only formal.

"We have discussed it before and we stayed with the passive approach. We will wait from SPAK for the name that will be appointed to head the BKH," Bogdani said. /CNA
