The police announced this Tuesday the arrest of another stalker.

A 47-year-old man with the initials ZP was put in handcuffs, who was denounced by a 17-year-old girl for stalking her for a month on the street and on social networks.

What stands out is that the 47-year-old was previously arrested for the same criminal offense.

Despite having previously stalked a girl, he was let off the hook and continued to do this again with a minor.

In fact, today's case is not the only one. CNA has treated the phenomenon of harassment seriously and has raised concerns about the increase in cases and the lack of measures taken by the institutions.  ( Read here )

Stalking is a very serious offense and, according to the Criminal Code, it is punishable by imprisonment from six months to four years.

But after serving the sentence, always in cases where a judge has deemed isolation from society necessary, the stalkers return to criminal life with the same zeal, without mentioning here the cases where the stalkers are released by the authorities.

It has been said and repeated that a national registry is needed for these people. This request has been emphasized in several cases by sociologists, but also by lawyers in interviews for CNA. ( Read here )

Until now, the only registers, if they can be called such, are those of the police for daily or monthly arrests and those of prosecutors and judges for the number of cases investigated and judged.

They stated that this criminal offense is not only committed by uneducated people, but also by those who have a high level of education.

Experts have called for a toughening of the law and have emphasized to CNA that stalking has a number of consequences for injured persons, starting from the feeling of fear and anxiety, continuing with difficulties to live a free life, and in extreme cases can also result in loss of life because the victim chooses to end his life.  ( Read here )

Stalkers are there, on the streets, in the middle of cities, behind computers or mobile screens. The consequences are suffered by their victims, their families and the whole society.

And despite the serious consequences that go as far as loss of life, the state sleeps in front of these cases./ CNA
