The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, which holds the next Presidency of the EU, Peter Szijjarto, has stated that Albania should join the EU as soon as possible.

During his speech in a joint statement to the media with Prime Minister Rama and Commissioner, Varhelyi, the Hungarian minister emphasized that the EU enlargement process should be accelerated now.

The Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement, Oliver Varhelyi, said that the Second Intergovernmental Conference with the European Union is a historic moment for Albania in the integration process and that they will now negotiate the conditions under which Albania will become part of the EU.

The two officials underlined the importance of EU expansion, while emphasizing that the Western Balkans region, including Albania, has its place in the EU./ CNA
