A unique journey to the Holy Mountain of Athos/ Blendi Fevziu's

On Wednesday evening, a rare documentary was broadcast on the "Opinion" show. For the first time, a special documentary from the Holy Mountain of Athos was broadcast on the "TV Klan" screen.

A documentary that showcases an autonomous state unique in the world, where there are dozens of monasteries, thousands of monks and numerous believers. But not only that, with a history of over 1000 years, in holy places of pilgrimage and more.

Journalist Blendi Fevziu and a team from "TV Klan" went there and were accompanied by a cleric, Father Theonas, who told the journalist many of the unknown mysticisms or enigmas that Mount Athos has. And in this documentary by Blendi Fevziu, the audience was introduced to the truth of this holy place.

THE DOCUMENTARY WILL BE REBROADCAST IN FULL ON CNA TV THIS THURSDAY, JANUARY 08, 2026, AT 8:00 PM.

YOU CAN FIND CNA TV ON CHANNEL 44 ON THE DIGITALB PLATFORM AND CHANNEL 10 ON THE KLANI IM PLATFORM AS WELL AS ON ALL TERRESTRIAL, CABLE AND ONLINE PLATFORMS, AS WELL AS ON OUR WEBSITE WWW.CNA.AL

The truth through a documentary of about 50 minutes, which starts from the center of Mount Athos, in Karyes, to the monasteries of this place, but these 50 minutes are not enough to show the Holy Mountain and its numerous monasteries or the life of the monks.

This is a first documentary brought by journalist Blendi Fevziu, on a one-day visit, and almost in the impossible to tell the history of this holy place. Maybe it will take days and weeks and dozens of other documentaries, but this first documentary by Fevziu in Athos, speaks a lot, about Christians, about the Orthodox faith, about monasteries, about monks and about everything related to Albanians on this Holy Mountain.

Journalist Blendi Fevziu was accompanied by his filming team and colleague Elvi Fundo, along with Niko and Anastasi, two Albanians living in Ouranoupoli, who accompanied the team of journalists and "TV Klan" to the Holy Mountain.

A unique documentary of its kind and as Blendi Fevziu himself said: "I have visited about 150 countries around the world, but I had never seen a place like Athos."

Mount Athos is a unique monastic republic of Eastern Orthodox monks in Northern Greece, famous for its 20 monasteries, rich history, spiritual significance, and art. Athos was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988.

Located on the easternmost peninsula of Halkidiki, it is a center of Orthodox Christianity, preserving ancient traditions, art and architecture, accessible to male pilgrims with special permission.

Mount Athos is the easternmost branch of the Halkidiki Peninsula, with a high, forested mountain culminating in the peak of Mount Athos (2,033 m). A self-governing territory within Greece, under the spiritual jurisdiction of the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople.

Athos is considered the spiritual heart of Orthodox Christianity, with a continuous monastic presence since Byzantine times.

By law and tradition, women and female children are prohibited from entering the monastic state. Athos has about 20 major monasteries and about 2,000 monks, preserving unique art, manuscripts, and culture. Entry is strictly controlled, requiring a special permit (Diamonitirion).

Traveling to Athos offers a deep spiritual detoxification, communal life, walking ancient paths, and experiencing centuries-old religious traditions.

The journey usually starts from Ouranoupoli, with ferries serving the coast and monasteries, while minibuses and walking connect inland places such as the capital, Karyes.

Mount Athos is a living museum of Orthodox monasticism, an artistic treasure trove and a place of profound spiritual peace, attracting pilgrims and scholars from all over the world. /CNA
