The Director General of the State Police, Skënder Hita, spoke today regarding the events that occurred two days ago during the rally in the Zvërnec area.

In a press conference, Hita said that the Vlora police appeared sleepy and unprofessional, not intervening in a timely manner.

Hita emphasized that he has requested the establishment of a special investigative group for the actions taken at the rally, as well as an investigation into the police leadership chain there, while on the same day he took the measure of suspending the director of the Vlora Police, Elidon Çela, from his duties.

"I ask the Vlora Police Directorate to be as open, active and professional as possible in the service of citizens and the law, and not to represent itself in any way and under any circumstances before the public with the unacceptable weakness of three days ago in Zvërnec, where the police appeared sleepy and unprofessional, not intervening in time to warn, not intervening in time to prevent the forcible seizure of the citizen or even not identifying and arresting in time the employee who punched the citizen, which shames us all. Therefore, I have also requested the establishment of a special investigative group for all actions carried out during the protest, and I have ordered the Directorate of Professional Standards to launch an in-depth investigation into the entire management chain of the Vlora DVP.
