The coastal area of ??Draleo, Drimadhe and Dhërmi will soon have an uninterrupted supply of drinking water, thanks to the project that the National Water and Sewerage Agency is implementing. The investment starts in the area of ??Tragjas, while through the new network that is being built, it will be possible to supply the coastal area with drinking water.
The Deputy Prime Minister, at the same time the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, together with the Director of AKUK, Klevis Jahaj, were in the Dukat area where work is being done on the construction of the new water transmission network.
Director Jahaj announced that the project in question covers the current demand of the area, simultaneously responding to the development of the area in the coming years.
"This is a much needed investment. We have made the calculations of the hydraulic system based on the whole part, not only of the current accommodation units or existing apartments, but also those that have been approved and are in the development project", said Jahaj.
Deputy Prime Minister Balluku said that this is one of the important projects that AKUK is developing as it serves one of the main tourist areas.
"From Dukati we will supply water to the area of ??Palasa, Dhërmi, Gjileka, Kondraqi, the whole part considered as one of the most important development areas of tourism centers in the south, which even with the Llogara tunnel will still be developed and rather because of the infrastructural access it has", Balluku announced.
The Minister of Infrastructure and Energy further focused on the reforms that the Albanian Government has undertaken in the water supply and sewerage sector, where there is a significant improvement in all indicators, but above all in the service to citizens. Balluku also emphasized that work is being done to reduce technical losses, a problem carried over for years in this sector.
"That the reform is good, no one discusses this anymore, because the numbers speak, the figures speak and when the numbers speak and when you have an improvement in the financial conditions of these enterprises which had turned into debtor enterprises which only created problems for third parties , starting from OSHEE, starting with local taxes and everything else, is indisputable. We refer to the figures, we have improved financial conditions, we have improved service, we have improved the feasibility of investments and as you said yourself, we have an extraordinary coordination of projects", stated Balluku.
The construction of the water supply network for the coastal areas, Draleos, Drimadhes and Dhërmi is a project spread over two municipalities, Vlora and Himarë. 2,300 residents, 3,200 employees serving in the area's hotel units, as well as more than 65,000 tourists will be the beneficiaries of this investment./ CNA
