On Thursday, the trial of Dritan Dajti started in the Special Court. The latter is not present in the hall for security reasons, but will follow it online from Beijing prison. 

Meanwhile, his lawyer said that he expected Dajti to be present. "My client is worried why his presence in court was not allowed," he said. 

On July 5, Dritan Dajti asked to be released from prison, claiming that he has completed his sentence.

Dajti made a request to the court through his lawyer, which came after the Supreme Court decided in June to reinstate his life sentence after a 15-year court saga. 

The decision was taken by the judging panel composed of Ilir Panda, Sandër Simoni and Artur Kalaja.

We remind you that Dritan Dajti was sentenced by the Court of First Instance to life imprisonment for the murder of 4 officers: Kastriot Feskaj, Altin Dizdari, Sajmir Duçkollari and Fatos Xhani.

The event was recorded on August 7, 2009, in Durrës, during an operation for his arrest.

However, in February 2019, the Court of Appeal of Serious Crimes accepted Dajti's request for a shortened trial, sentencing the latter to 25 years in prison.
