The protest that is shrinking the DP
The "Martyrs of the Nation" Boulevard is lit up every day ...

Protest is one of the most important expressions of democracy. Citizens have the right to take to the streets, to oppose decisions they consider unjust, and to defend what they believe is in the public interest. In this sense, no one should question the right of protesters to raise their voices.
But another question deserves to be asked: are people going to the protest only with their hearts, or also with their minds? Humans are "homo sapiens," which means intelligent beings, so is reason and clarity at work in this protest?
For example, the protest has a dominant presence from leftist NGOs that were recently financially supported by USAID. President Trump closed USAID, depriving NGOs of financial support in the world and especially in Albania. Think about it, does this make sense why the anti-Trump spirit dominates the protests?
The pro-family coalition's initiatives were attacked by pro-LGBTQ+ NGOs and immediately the pink flamingo symbol associated with LGBTQ+ has now been made official as the symbol of the protests. Every category should be respected and not discriminated against, but the mind must understand whether the protesters know the agenda of this category which is in open opposition, and as has been proven through lawsuits, is openly against the traditional family? Do those protesting against hormonal intervention for transgender people know that LGBTQ+ messages and symbols are waving above their heads?
As the most pro-American country in the region and with a unique history of protecting Jews, the anti-Semitic and anti-American slogans clearly demonstrate external interference to disrupt the excellent relationship between Albania and the US and with Israel. Does any sincere protester know that anti-Trump and anti-Israel slogans are waving next to him or her?
Also, neo-Marxist and extreme leftist elements are exploiting the protest for their political credentials and ideology. This is a democratic right, but do the true patriots who are protesting understand that the extreme leftist and Marxist agenda opposes the very notion of nationalism and patriotism, as they believe in universal unity without borders? Does this fact also reinforce the hour-by-hour coverage that the declared leftist world media is giving to the protests?
Religious extremists are fighting Israel. Never before have there been anti-Israel slogans on the streets of Tirana or Albania. Iranian media is using photos of Albanian children for anti-American propaganda, making the protests seem more about fighting Trump and big investors like Kushner than domestic issues.
The protests feature environmental activists, non-governmental organizations, civil rights activists, political parties, groups with different ideological and sexual orientations, individuals with completely different motives. Some are focused on the environment. Others on politics. Some oppose the government. Others oppose certain models of economic development. There are also those who see the protest as part of a broader cultural or ideological struggle.
This raises a fundamental question: is the protest a movement with a clear purpose, or a temporary union of groups that share only the opposition of the moment?
In political history, strange alliances have often been formed. People who would never sit at the same table suddenly find themselves in the same square. This is not necessarily wrong. But the ordinary citizen should know that he is joining a concrete cause and not all the agendas that may be present within it, which are also anti-national.
Anti-American and anti-Israel slogans are anti-national and no one should support them.
In the end, the question is not whether the protest is right or wrong. The question is whether citizens fully understand the mosaic of forces operating within it.
When you see the banners, slogans, organizers, support groups, and debates on social media, a dilemma arises: are we dealing with a movement united by a common vision for Albania, or with a temporary union of interests, ideologies, and grievances that often have nothing in common?
Protest is healthy for democracy. But democracy doesn't just require heart. It also requires a clear mind.
Therefore, before asking who is against whom, perhaps we should ask a simpler question: does the ordinary Albanian citizen find himself among all the groups that speak in his name? Is a homo sapiens patriot or a Marxist? Is a homo sapiens pro-family or pro-homosexuality? Is he pro-development and investment through transparency or pro-opposition to any “imperialist” development initiative?
This is the question every protester should ask with their eyes wide open. Which category do they belong to?
