Minister Tajani: The agreement with Albania is not comparable to that of Britain and Rwanda

For several weeks, the debate has been open about the agreement between Albania and Italy regarding the accommodation of immigrants in Gjadër.

Claims that this agreement is in violation of the European Convention on Human Rights were denied this Tuesday by the Foreign Minister of Italy, Antonio Tajani.

The Foreign Minister said in the Chamber of Deputies in Italy that the agreement with Albania is not comparable to the one between Great Britain and Rwanda, which was overturned by the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom.

"The memorandum of understanding between the two countries is not comparable to the agreement between the United Kingdom and Rwanda.

There is no outsourcing of the management of asylum claims to a third country. And there is no deviation from internationally guaranteed rights", Tajani stressed./ CNA
