The dynamics of developments in recent years, where the project for the liquefied gas terminal in Vlora has appeared on the horizon, as well as the launch of the gasification project from Korça, have caused the government to review the priority development projects.

The latter were defined earlier in the important documents accompanying the 2016 gasification master plan. Part of this whole picture is also the Trans Adriatic pipeline, where some changes made in a recent government decision also affect this aspect.

Specifically, a decision of the government dated October 4 first removed a sentence regarding the obligation of TAP ag to build an exit point in Albania with a minimum capacity of 0.3 bmk/year and added that the exit point in Fier is with two directions. The amended paragraph in the master plan for the identification of priority projects provides that ""TAP AG Company will build and operate the TAP gas pipeline.

Albania, Greece and Italy have signed an intergovernmental agreement on TAP. Based on the joint decision of the energy regulatory bodies of Italy, Albania and Greece, in June 2013, TAP AG is obliged to build at least one two-way (bidirectional) exit point in Albania (located in Fier), with a capacity of 2-10 mmk/day (0.73-3.65 bmk/year). In addition to Fier, a second exit point is under discussion in the area of ??Kuçova."

The maximum allowable pressure is doubled

The government's decision has also changed the maximum pressure allowed for the gas transmission system in our country, doubling it. Earlier in the document it was underlined that the Maximum Allowed pressure was 82 bar, for the IAP sections and 50 bar for the rest of the transmission system in Albania, as well as 50 bar, for the transmission system in Albania when the IAP does not exist.

With the change made at this point, the maximum pressure allowed is 82 bar, for the sections of the IAP and up to 100 bar for the rest of the transmission system in Albania and up to 100 bar, for the transmission system in Albania when the IAP does not exist.

Change of short and medium term projects

The government has also changed the priority projects that will be seen in the short term and those in the medium term. In the previous document, it was determined that in the short term, the development of the gas pipeline TAP - TEC of Vlora, and if possible, the development of the gas distribution system in the city of Vlora. Second, the development of the transmission system to supply anchor consumers in Fier and Ballsh and, if possible, the development of local gas distribution systems in the areas of Fier and Ballsh.

Another priority has now been added to this, which is specified in the government's decision with the development of the exit point and the distribution network Korçë Municipality.

In the medium term, the document envisages the development of the transmission system to supply mainly the industrial areas in Elbasan, as well as the development of gas storage spaces in Dumre. Similarly, the development of the transmission system for the supply of industrial and commercial consumers in the area of ??Durrës and Tirana. The priority for the development of the liquid natural gas distribution network has now been added to this group./ Monitor
