Manja on "Laws": Former state officials cannot stay in the same place

The Chairman of the Laws Committee, Ulsi Manja, stated at today's meeting of the Laws and Public Administration Committee that Albanian prisons are a model in the region. According to him, today there are no shops in prisons, but convicts and prisoners can order online from prisons.

Further, the MP stated that state officials or former state officials cannot be accommodated in the same place as other prisoners or exponents of crime.

"The prison system is a system that does not deserve to be criticized. Albanian prisons are a model in the region. Of course there are problems, they are caught with phones, with illegality. But there are no shops in prisons. For two years now, prisons have been operating with an online system of services that convicts or prisoners receive. They can order online from prisons. This is a revolution. Only 2 or 3 countries have this model. 

"The Durrës prison was definitely considered as a place where we could accommodate detainees who are officials or former state officials. A former state official cannot stay in a prison with other prisoners. Not only Durrës, there is also the detention in Fier. This is related to the elements of the prisons, but also to guaranteeing the physical integrity of the former officials," said Manja. /CNA
