Today the preliminary hearing for Erion Veliaj/ GJKKO decides whether to pass

A preliminary hearing will be held today for the mayor arrested on 13 charges for 5 serious criminal offenses, Erion Veliaj. The GJKKO will decide whether or not to proceed with the case for trial.

The preliminary hearing was set to be held on October 28, but Veliaj's lawyers again used their strategies and tactics to postpone the hearing, which will be held today.

We recall that earlier the preliminary hearing for Veliaj was postponed due to the lawyers' boycott on October 10, after the murder of judge Astrit Kalaja in the courtroom, while the second time, on October 21, it was postponed due to the boycott after the lawyer's arrest in Elbasan.

While on September 29, the preliminary hearing was postponed due to the lack of notification for some of the defendants.

SPAK has copied Veliaj's file and sent him for trial.

According to SPAK, Erion Veliaj faces 13 charges for several serious criminal offenses.

2. “Passive corruption of high-ranking state officials or local elected officials”, committed in collaboration, in relation to the irregular benefit received from “Fusha” shpk, provided for by Article 260 and 25 of the Criminal Code;

3. “Passive corruption of high-ranking state officials or local elected officials”, committed in collaboration, in relation to the irregular benefit received from “Palushi” shpk, provided for by article 260 and 25 of the Criminal Code;

4. “Passive corruption of high-ranking state officials or local elected officials”, committed in collaboration, in relation to the irregular benefit received from “Gerard-A” shpk, provided for by article 260 and 25 of the Criminal Code;
