Journalist Klodiana Lala explained in a post on social media how Muçi Shaljani, who was seriously injured in today's attack in Rinas, joined the ranks of the Police Supervision Agency.

Lala initially states in her post that the association of an AMP agent with a person from the underworld is an alarm bell.

She further says that Muci Shaljani alias Sheqeri was recruited without any procedure as an AMP agent and his contract was expected to end at the end of this month.

The journalist further states that during the time AMP was led by Eduar Merkaj, it turns out that other agents were recruited with temporary contracts.

Muçi Shaljani alias Sheqeri, an agent with the Police Supervision Agency, an institution tasked with investigating involvement in crime or corruption, was injured in the mafia attack that took place on Tuesday afternoon at the Rinas Airport roundabout.

He was in the company of Gilmando Dani, a former crime boss, confidant of Emiljano Shullazi, who was a victim in the assassination attempt.

Shaljani and Dani had traveled from Tirana to Barcelona and on the way back they were also in each other's company.

The association of an AMP agent with a person with such a criminal profile as Gilmando Dani is a wake-up call.

Muci Shaljani alias Sheqeri was recruited without any procedure as an agent with a contract signed in September. At that time, the prime minister had "fired" Florian Sulejmani from the AMP (Sulejmani's resignation was formal). The leadership of the structure, which is directly subordinate to the Minister of Interior, was taken over by Deputy Director Artjol Saliasi.

Without prejudice to the way Saliasi led the AMP as a commander, it turns out that Shaljani was recruited without any procedure and his contract was set to expire at the end of this month. Shaljani was even able to secure a security certificate (one of the institutions involved in providing the security certificate is AKSIK, whose role should be investigated).

During the time that AMP was run by an unknown name, it turns out that other agents were recruited on temporary contracts (who knows what they represent). Eduart Merkaj, a career police officer, was appointed head of AMP and, familiar with the problems within the structure, requested the verification of all employees no more than two days ago.

Between them and Muci Shaljani. A procedure that should have actually happened a long time ago, but it seems no one has prioritized cleaning the Agency from agents linked to crime or corrupt.

It is still too early to assess what will happen with the procedure initiated by Merkaj for the verification of AMP employees, but also in his honor as one of the longest-serving officials in the police, to cleanse the Agency of problematic exponents. Because if AMP is not cleansed, there is no way to cleanse the ranks of the State Police of officers linked to crime or involved in corruption.
