For the fourth consecutive year, the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) is launching the region's trademark online competition - for the best digital ideas and solutions from the Western Balkans - Balkathon 4.0. Applications are open until September 13.

This year, we are looking for new and unique ideas in 3 categories:

1. Sustainable Tourism (sustainable mobility, sustainable fashion and performing arts, etc.)

2. Green Economy (renewable energy, green buildings, sustainable transport, water management, waste management or land management)

3. Entrepreneurship (Web3 business ideas, AI-based business ideas, customer services, predictive analytics, automated data entry, e-services and digital tools)

Balkathon 4.0 shortlisted teams will have the opportunity to receive a two-day mentoring program with experienced experts, the opportunity to implement their solution in the Western Balkans region and win one of six prizes from the prize pool of 60,000 Euros. We will award six winning ideas – two in each of the categories, with €10,000.

Since its inception in 2020, Balkathon has resulted in the creation of 15 original "Made in Western Balkans" products. Last year, the RCC awarded six of the Western Balkan economies with a total of 60,000 Euros for their best innovative solutions in four categories, e-commerce, agriculture, food-technology and rural development, renewable and sustainable energy, transport and logistics, and two were awarded in the category: miscellaneous. The teams have used the financial support to fully develop their digital solutions.

Who can apply?

Balkathon 4.0 is open to teams composed of participants coming from Western Balkan economies. Teams are encouraged to include among their members qualified individuals, ICT companies, students, non-governmental organizations, educational institutions, start-ups, etc.

When?

The application will be open starting today, July 13 until September 13, 2023. The winners will be announced at the Official Awards Ceremony on October 3, 2023, which will be broadcast live on RCC's social networks. of.
