The General Secretary of the SP, Damian Gjiknuri, spoke today about the accusations leveled against him for travel and connections with the people of the incinerators.

Gjiknuri said that his travels are public and the charges brought against him are to raise political causes.

He emphasized that he did not hold meetings with the "brain" of the incinerators, Mirel Mërtir.

"I have made my views public even in the investigative commission. Nothing new has happened since then, except that occasionally everyone will use the mention of my name to raise political causes.

All those trips, those two, only two of which appeared in the alleged media, are official trips, there is relevant documentation in the Ministry of Infrastructure. I am aware that maybe the prosecution also owns them, I also own them, but I don't have to hold a public debate or issue papers. But my trips as a minister are declared, they are official trips, I didn't even hang around with people that you can claim for certain trips. Regarding my role as a minister, there is no legal violation in any procedure", emphasized Gjiknuri.

Journalists persisted and asked him in particular about the trips with Ahmetaj and Mërtir in Vienna and Romania.

The secretary of the SP replied: "I traveled with Ahmetaj because he was a minister and a colleague, and in these meetings you get information and you understand."
