Ahmetaj's lawyer: We are against the arrest, a show to satisfy the desires

The lawyer of former Deputy Prime Minister Arben Ahmetaj, Ardian Visha, spoke in harsh tones after leaving the meeting of the Council of Mandates.

In a statement to journalists, Visha said that he is against Ahmetaj's arrest, as he described it as an extreme measure.

He stated that with the case of the former deputy prime minister, a show is being made to satisfy the desires of some people.

"Mr. Ahmetaj has started the confrontation with justice. It is his right whether he will come to Albania or not. We took the opposite position from what the prosecution is looking for. We were given no more than 24 hours to review 320 pages of material that took 2 weeks to write. We did not notice anywhere on these pages any line that justifies the control of Mr. Ahmetaj's apartment. This is just a show to satisfy the lusts of some people about how the right of a member of parliament is violated. As a security measure, there was no reason why this extreme measure was required. We are against his arrest", emphasized the lawyer./ CNA.al
