Today is expected to hold a court hearing in the GJKKO Appeal for the elected mayor of Himara, Fredi Beleri.

He requested the change of the security measure. The Greek ambassador, Kostandina Kamitsi, as well as the head of PBDNJ Vangjel Dule have arrived at the Special Court.

GJKKO passed Beleri's case for trial on September 14, where the prosecutors declared that the evidence supported the charge brought against him, while on the other hand, Beleri's defense lawyer requested the dismissal of the case claiming that the evidence is illegal.

Beleri was arrested two days before the May 14 local elections and is accused of buying and selling votes.

The elected mayor of Himara has called his arrest a political attack, while there have been very harsh reactions from Athens regarding the detention of Beler.

According to them, Albania is violating the rights of the national minority and if it continues to maintain this attitude, it will affect the relations between the two neighboring countries.
