The Deputy Prime Minister and at the same time the Minister of Infrastructure, Belinda Balluku was today in Elbasan, at the opening of the Regional Innovation Center of the European Institute of Technology for Raw Materials.

In her speech, Balluku emphasized that the raw material can be found even in a small area, like Albania, only 28 thousand square kilometers, but with extraordinary wealth.

The minister also said that this center will turn into a "new nest", a new incubator of ideas, of academic research, of promoting a sector, such as the mining sector in Albania.

"It must be said that due to the entire global situation of recent years, starting here from the pandemic or the war in Ukraine, the main focus of the government or even other governments in Europe and beyond has definitely not been on the mining sector . But we have also learned our lessons. Lessons that showed us that we cannot depend on a limited country, as it was the case of the area of ??Ukraine or Russia, to have raw materials, which are important for the functioning of the continents.

We began to understand that even small countries, such as Albania and the European Union has begun to understand this, we have known, can be very important for the contribution of the mining industry and as a result of the raw material that can be used by the industry automotive today and up to renewable energy sources.

This important raw material can be located even in a small area, like Albania, only 28 thousand square kilometers, but with extraordinary wealth that you know much better than I do.

Today is a marked day because together with your contribution, with the focus of the Albanian government and undoubtedly with the support of the European Union, as a strategic partner of our country, we have reached a marked day to be all here together and to open a new nest, a new incubator of ideas, of academic research, of promoting a sector which is the mining sector in the Republic of Albania.

All this will happen thanks to the Regional Innovation Center of the European Institute of Technology and Innovation for Raw Materials, thus marking a milestone in the development of the mining industry in our country," said Balluku./ CNA
