Fisnik Qosja clarifies participation in the meeting with the EU Delegation: Do

The Mayor of Kavaja, Fisnik Qosja, has reacted after publications on social networks regarding a meeting held with representatives of the European Union Delegation to Albania, clarifying his role in this activity.

Through a statement, Qosja emphasized that he participated in the meeting in his capacity as Mayor of Kavaja Municipality and not as a representative of the National Association of Municipalities.

He also clarified that he is not and has not been the co-chair of this association from the majority. According to him, he currently holds the position of chairman of the Association of Local Elected Officials, which represents local elected officials from the opposition wing.

Qosja emphasized that he will represent this group at every national and international meeting, conference or forum, including the activities of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, Brussels and other international structures.

In his response, he called on organizations and projects not to use or misinterpret his name and representative position.

In conclusion, Qosja emphasized that in every public activity he represents only his duty as Mayor of Kavajë Municipality and as President of the Association of Local Elected Officials.

"Regarding the news published on social media about the meeting held with representatives of the European Union Delegation to Albania, taking as reference the announcement made public, I, Fisnik Qosja, declare that: 1. I was at this meeting, firstly, in the capacity of Mayor of Kavajë Municipality.

2. I have not been and am not co-chair of the National Association of Municipalities by majority.

3. I am President of the Association of Local Elected Officials, which represents local elected officials of the opposition wing, and I have represented and will represent this group at every national and international meeting, conference or forum, including the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe, in Strasbourg, in Brussels or in other umbrella organizations and structures.

4. I invite any organization or project not to use or misinterpret my name and representative position.

5. I fully support the positions of the Assembly of the Association of Local Elected Officials on the identity, goals, activity and institutional cooperation for strengthening decentralization and for the process of Albania's integration into the European Union.

The Association of Local Elected Officials and its members firmly defend the identity, positions and causes they represent. We are an independent institutional organization and will continue to represent our voice in every national and international forum.

For this reason, I clearly explain that I am not part of and do not represent the National Association of Municipalities, while in every public activity I only represent my duty as Mayor of Kavajë Municipality and as President of the Association of Local Elected Officials", said Qosja./ CNA
