Gërdeci/Mediu case: I was not involved in any act of corruption, the

Republican Party leader Fatmir Mediu has reacted to the Gerdec case, stressing that no evidence links him to the tragic explosion. He stated that the Prosecution and SPAK have investigated him and his family "in every 360-degree aspect," including private and health issues.

"The prosecution has conclusively proven that I was not involved in any act of corruption. The accusation against me is not related to the explosion in Gerdec, but is related to military matters and not to the duties and functions of the minister," said Mediu.

He added that over 10 court cases have been held over the past 18 years, but no decision has been found to show that he acted contrary to the law. "In every action I have taken, I have evaluated the proposals of the headquarters and the highest military structures, as the law required me to do," he said.

According to him, SPAK has formally taken Fatmir Mediu to court and that he has been persecuted by the justice system for 18 years.

"The prosecution and SPAK have investigated me and my family members for private and health issues in every 360-degree aspect.

The prosecution has conclusively proven that I was not involved in any act of corruption. I am being tried for abuse of office. The charge against me has nothing to do with the explosion in Gerdec, the charge has to do with military matters and not with the duties and functions of the minister. Over 10 court proceedings have been conducted, no decision has been found that I acted contrary to the law.

In every action I have taken, it is proven that I have evaluated the proposals of the headquarters and the highest military structures as required by law.

"These 18 years have been years of persecution. SPAK has formally brought Fatmir Mediu to court," Mediu said./ CNA
