Vjosa Osmani: LVV has no reason to reject my name for president

Former President Vjosa Osmani, who was the leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo list and the party's candidate for president, thanked citizens for their support in the elections, describing the result for the LDK as the beginning of a new phase for the political entity.

She has stated that the Vetëvendosje Movement has no reason to reject her name for the position of president.

"She has thousands of reasons to say 'yes' and all of them are in the interests of the state of Kosovo," Osmani said at a press conference, together with LDK leader Lumir Abdixhiku.

She added that the party's commitment will focus from tomorrow on building functional institutions and providing stability for the country.

With over 97% of the votes counted, the LDK won 17.68%, compared to the 13.2% it won in the December 28, 2025 elections.

Osmani emphasized that the citizens' vote has helped rebalance the political scene and reject divisions, describing this as a clear message for the country's political future.

"This is just the first step towards resurgence ," said Osmani, adding that the LDK will continue to strengthen in the months and years to come. /REL
