Attacks on Prosecutor Dado/ Chairperson of the KLP: Call for restraint, act

The Chairperson of the High Prosecutorial Council, Mirela Bogdani, commented today regarding the attacks made against prosecutor Ols Dado regarding the investigative case against the arrested former mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj.

In response to opposition questions in Parliament, Bogdani stated that the KLP has reacted to this case and called for restraint and respect for the rights to information and freedom of the media.

Bogdani added that the work of a prosecutor carries a difficulty from major confrontations, but avoiding attacks is done through professionalism.

"All decision-making and processes can be commented on. There is no problem. To what extent a prosecutor feels threatened, this is to be addressed and discussed. Regarding prosecutor Ols Dado, you have seen the public reactions. When the attacks were justified, the KLP has called for restraint and for the respect of all standards related to media freedom and the right to information. Let me emphasize one comment. The work of a prosecutor is not easy. There are major confrontations. All prosecutors in Albania, from the moment they started exercising their duties, are professionals who avoid these attacks and act as the law requires", - said Bodgani. /CNA
