Today, Flutura Açka resigned from her position as head of the Parliamentary Committee for Education and Media.

Academician Artan Fuga claims that Açka's resignation came as a result of embarrassing pressures for opposing the draft law of MP Petro Koçi on the Academy of Sciences.

According to him, the MP was very right when she called the amended draft for the method of election in the Academy of Sciences unconstitutional.

Full statement:

Today I am completely by the side of Mrs. Flutura Açka and I understand very well the revolt and her resignation as chairperson of the Committee of the Assembly of Albania!

I am a witness and grateful that she stood up to those two or three deputies isolated from the other deputies of the socialist group who did their best to absurdly stop me from speaking in the media and education committee of the Assembly! Are you saying that the Assembly was their property!

I am a witness that Mrs. Açka has faced shameful pressures, attacks and masculinist insults that it is surprising that someone dares to do to a lady deputy, a respected writer!

I am by Mrs. Açka's side today because she was very right when she called Petro Koçi's project that changed at the last minute the method of selection at the Academy of Sciences, an unprecedented scandal, unconstitutional. As it is!

I stand by her side today because I am a witness that what Mrs. Açka called a coup against the Parliament of Albania and its regulation, was a coup! I followed closely everything that led to the illegal meeting held to pass the bill of Petro Koç and Ismet Beqiraj at all costs and to vote on it then at dawn, at five o'clock in the morning.

I am a witness of Mrs. Açka's efforts to motivate the deputies not to vote on a surrogacy bill. But no one listened to her even though her dignity was violated.

I am a witness of the letter full of logical arguments that she sent to President Bajram Begaj, who not only did not even give her an audience, but also did not listen to a word of what MP Açka had written to her. He didn't even tell him that: You lie! Or: You are wrong! Just ignored her letter! Surprise like a mountain! What treatment to a lady MP!

Who can now stand in front of Mrs. Açka today, after all these acts, and tell her: Don't throw the papers in our faces!
