The cruise ship gets stuck in the isolated area of ??Greenland

A cruise ship with 206 passengers is stranded in an isolated area of ??east Greenland and is unable to land on its own, the Danish Army's Joint Arctic Command said.

The luxury cruise ship Ocean Explorer ran aground on Monday in Alpefjord, a national park about 1,400 kilometers northeast of Nuuk, the capital of Greenland.

No injuries were reported and the people on board are not in danger. 

“A cruise ship in trouble in the national park is definitely a cause for concern. The nearest help is far away, our units are far away, and the weather may not be favorable," said JAC Chief of Operations Brian Jensen. 

"However, in this particular case, we do not see any immediate danger to people or the environment, which is reassuring," he added.
The nearest JAC unit is an inspection vessel which was 1,200 nautical miles from the cruise ship at the time of the grounding. That means it could reach Ocean Explorer on Friday morning, at best. JAC said it had asked another nearby cruise ship to stay in the area so it could help passengers if conditions change./ CNA
