"We will introduce a state-owned oil factor into the market as a wholesale

Prime Minister Edi Rama has announced that the government is working to finalize an initiative to introduce a state distributor in the oil sector, with the aim of guaranteeing supply and protecting consumers.

According to him, this state-owned factor will operate as a wholesale distributor, ensuring the necessary quantities of oil thanks to state support. At the same time, it is expected to facilitate relations with third parties and reduce dependence on intermediaries or brokers.

Rama stressed that the initiative does not aim to create a monopoly and that no entity will be forced to buy from the state distributor. He explained that the role of this factor is not to harm private businesses, but to strengthen economic sovereignty and intervene in the market to avoid price abuses.

The Prime Minister described oil as a vital commodity for the economy and daily life, adding that state intervention aims to increase transparency and stability in the market.

"We are working to finalize an initiative we have undertaken to introduce a state-owned factor into the market as a wholesale distributor. It will guarantee the necessary quantities by having state support and on the other hand will facilitate relations with third parties that go through brokers."

"We do not intend to create a monopoly, we will not force anyone to buy from the state factor. The state factor is not there to hit you. The state factor will support the sovereignty of the country in its daily life when it comes to this vital commodity for the economy, it will protect consumers from abuses," said Rama./ CNA
