The GJKKO passes the file of Meta, Kryemadhi and other defendants for trial

The Special Court has passed the case file for the leader of the PL, Ilir Meta, former MP Monika Kryemadhi and other defendants for trial.

"The court of first instance will make the prosecutor and the judge. I don't understand this action of the court. It should be raised to the level of the law."

"Today the legal issue has ended, the politics begin at the core," said lawyer Kujtim Cakrani.

The court process has lasted about 8 months, from the moment SPAK submitted the request for trial against Meta and Kryemadhi on various charges, including corruption, money laundering, and concealment of assets.

Among the other defendants are Pirro Xhixho, the father of the current vice president of the PL, Erisa Xhixho, as well as Ema Çoku and Fatime Kryemadhi, accused of money laundering.

The preliminary hearing judge, Irena Gjoka, closed the hearing last week, while the defense has requested the case be dismissed or returned for further investigation.

SPAK closed the investigation on July 28 last year and sent the case to court at the end of August. The file includes investigations related to the "CEZ-DIA" case, LSI lobbying in the United States, and the defendants' assets.

Of the five defendants, only Ilir Meta has been in prison since October 2024. All of his requests for a change in security measures have been rejected./ CNA
