Analyst Mentor Kikia has shared a video on social media showing a bridge in a degraded state, a bridge that allows traffic between 4 villages in the Papër administrative unit.

Kikia writes that the degradation of the bridge is due to the erosion of the Papri stream by the companies building Corridor 8.

Further, the analyst says that when this bridge collapses, the residents of the 4 villages that the bridge connects will pay the bill and says that there is no document showing that permission has been given for the erosion of the Papri stream.

The removal of inert materials has lowered the level of this stream by about 2 meters. This modest bridge is the only one that allows the circulation of hundreds of residents from 4 villages, in the Papër administrative unit, in Elbasan.

The companies building Corridor 8 have eroded the bed of the Papri stream to the point of destruction.

Outside of any criteria, the government has granted permission to use the Shkumbin River, on behalf of this road. Two companies, “Alb-Building” and “Salillari”, which are building the Grykes-Paper and Paper-Elbasan segments, have received permission to extract inert materials from the Shkumbin.

But there is no document showing that permission was also granted for the Papri stream, a very aggressive artery in erosion, and which has led to the destruction of the protective and irrigation infrastructure on both sides of the stream.

When this piece of bridge falls tomorrow, who will pay the cost? It will surely fall, as the stream bed continues to erode, along its entire length.

Streams and rivers are not gravel deposits, they are "living creatures" that take revenge badly when you destroy them in this way.
