The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has restricted fishing in some cities for certain periods.

In the decision published today, the restriction has been made with certain periods in certain lakes for certain types of fish.

During these periods, fishing is prohibited with any means and hunting method. It is also prohibited to keep on board, transit in the boat, landing all types of fish except for the Koran.

Full decision:

Prohibition of fishing with any means and hunting methods, as well as keeping on board, transiting on boats, landing all types of fish in the lakes of Ohrid (except Koran), Prespa, Fierza, Ulza and Shkopet and, specifically:

- the tongue (cironka)-Alburnus AlbidusAlborella, from April 20 to July 20, 2023, in the Ohrid lake and from April 20 to July 31, 2023, for the lakes of Prespa, Fierza, Ulza and Shkopet;

-corresponds to CyprynusCarpio, from April 20 to July 20, 2023, in Lake Ohrid and from April 25 to May 25, 2023, for the lakes of Prespa, Fierza, Ulza and Shkopet.

For the period 20.7.2023 to 20.8.2023, the ban on fishing with nets in the coastal strip of 300 ml from the shore for Lake Ohrid and for the period from 25.4.2023 to 25.6.2023, the ban on fishing with nets in the coastal strip of 150 ml from the shore for the lakes of Prespa, Fierza, Ulza and Shkopet.

The base of the fishing boats will be at the points designated by the respective OMPs.

For the implementation of this order, a Joint Operative Action Plan should be drawn up by the Directorate of Fisheries and Aquaculture Services, in coordination with the relevant OMPs that exercise fishing activity in these lakes.

The OMPs should take all measures to relocate the facilities, where the fish have spawned, in the event of a drop in the water level in these lakes.

For the implementation of this order, the Directorate of Fisheries and Aquaculture Policies and Programs, the Directorate of Fisheries and Aquaculture Services, the Fisheries Management Organizations of the lakes of Ohrid, Prespa, Fierza, Ulza and Shkopet, the Regional Directorates of the AKU, are in charge. cooperating with local self-government structures, the Directorate of Order and Border Police of the respective districts and with the respective municipal police.
