AK requests additional 14.2 million lek/ Biba: We work like sardines, 7

The head of the Competition Authority, Denar Biba, during the submission of the institution's requests to the Committee for Civic Initiatives, stated that they are requesting an additional 14.2 million lek for 2026. Biba said that inspectors work in very difficult conditions and compared them to sardines.

Biba requested payment for the work hardship for the inspectors, as he stated that the departure would hinder work due to the difficulty in finding other employees.

 

"The Competition Authority is a purely budgetary institution with no other income. As of September, the budget has been implemented at 63%.

For 2026, we are requesting an additional 14.2 million lek for the expansion of the building, maintenance of the technology infrastructure and the information system.

Regarding human resources, during 2024, 3 inspectors were dismissed due to poor conditions and low salaries.

We are like sardines, 7 people in an office. One issue that requires urgent solution is the work environment. We started with 13 employees, today we are 49, in the same environment. 35 ladies who go to the same toilet. There is no archive.

"The knowledge of inspectors is unique and not easily found, so we ask you to provide additional salaries and payment for the difficulty of the work. CA inspectors carry out inspections beyond the office under technical and legal pressure ," said Biba./ CNA
