Scandal in Italy, UEFA does not allow external interference. The risk is revealed

Italian football is facing another crisis, after a new scandal related to the refereeing system.

At the center of the investigation is Gianluca Rocchi, suspected of sports manipulation and influence over the VAR system.

The prosecution alleges that he exerted pressure on decision-making and the selection of referees. The situation has raised concerns about possible government interference in the Italian Football Federation.

Such a scenario could lead to a clash with UEFA, which prohibits political interference in football. President Aleksander Ceferin has warned of consequences such as exclusion from European competitions or losing the right to host Euro 2032.

Meanwhile, elections for the head of the federation are scheduled for June 22. Investigations continue and the situation remains unclear.
