Abakarov loses in the final, Albania takes two medals at the European Wrestling Championship

Albania has closed the European Wrestling Championship in Tirana with two silver medals, after the defeat of Zelimkhan Abakarov in the final of the weight class up to 61 kilograms.

In the final challenge held at the 'Feti Borova' Olympic Park, Abakarov was defeated 4-0 by Russian wrestler Zavur Uguev, who competed as a neutral athlete.

This result follows that of Islam Dudaev, who a day earlier also secured second place at the European Championships. Although the gold medal was missing in the home event, both red and black wrestlers were declared European vice-champions.

As a result of this success, the athletes will receive a reward of 4 million new lek each from the Ministry of Education and Sports.

This championship confirms the increase in the level of wrestling in the country, positioning Albania among the elite countries in this discipline.
