World Cup list causes controversy, no Real Madrid player in Spain

Spain have released their 26-man squad for the World Cup, named by coach Luis De La Fuente. The Spanish federation chose a special presentation, with the names of the players read out by various staff members, and King Felipe VI also taking part in the video.

Barcelona is the club with the most representatives in the national team, with 8 players called up by De La Fuente. Meanwhile, for the first time in many years, Real Madrid remains without a player in Spain's World Cup list, something that has caused controversy.

Defender Hujsen is out, while the return of Erik Garcia is considered one of the main innovations. Mikel Merino, Niko Williams and Lamine Yamal have also been included in the squad, although all three have physical problems and risk missing the first match.

Spain have also released a List B of young players who will train with the team until the friendly against Iraq. The European champions are in Group H at the World Cup, along with Cape Verde, Saudi Arabia and Uruguay.
