Big surprise! The second division team wins the Cup and will play in Europe

One of the biggest surprises of the season in Portuguese football was recorded by Torreense, who won the Portuguese Cup after defeating Sporting Lisbon in the final.

The team from the city of Torres Vedras became the first team from the second division to win the trophy. Torreense took the lead in the 4th minute, starting the final in the best possible way.

Sporting responded in the second half and equalized through Luis Suárez, sending the game into extra time. The decisive moment came in the 113th minute, when Sporting conceded a penalty and were left with a man down after being sent off.

Captain Stopira was accurate from the penalty spot and scored the goal that decided the fate of the trophy. This success ensures Torreense's participation in the Europa League next season.

Meanwhile, the team continues to fight for promotion to the Portuguese football elite, as it will play the return match of the "play-off" against Casa Pia on May 28th.
