Italy with 5 teams in the Champions League? How has the ranking changed?

Italy has gained significant ground in the UEFA rankings after recent results in European competitions. The five victories achieved by Italian teams in seven matches played have significantly contributed to the increase in the coefficient.

Italy currently ranks third with 9,571 points, closely followed by Germany, who hold second place with 9,857 points. England, which has amassed 10,944 points with nine participating teams, tops the rankings.

The results that have directly influenced this climb include the victories of Juventus and Napoli, but especially the success of Atalanta, who defeated Frankfurt, a direct rival in the points race. Inter, before the recent defeat in Madrid, had contributed consistently with 4 wins, remaining among the most efficient teams for the Italian coefficient.

Next in line are Atalanta, Juventus, Napoli, followed by Fiorentina, Bologna and Roma, all of whom have contributed to the increase in total points.

Behind Italy stands Portugal, which has 9,400 points and remains at a close distance. For the Portuguese, the next round is particularly important, as the Benfica-Napoli match is expected to have a direct impact on the balance of the standings. Poland and Cyprus are also in high positions, with 9,375 and 9,250 points respectively. Cyprus is the surprise of this edition, equaling Spain's points, while Poland and the other chasing countries are in the race to maintain their positions.

The current overall UEFA ranking is as follows: England in first place, followed by Germany and Italy.

They are followed by Portugal, Poland, Cyprus and Spain, who have equal points.

In further positions are France, Denmark and Greece, which close the top ten.

For Italy, the objective remains to secure one of the two places that give it the right to enter five teams in the Champions League for the 2026–2027 season.

The close distance with Germany keeps the competition open, while the results in the coming rounds will be crucial in determining the final standings and participation quotas in European competitions.
