Unusual/ Well-known coach fired after 8-0 victory

Brazilian club Flamengo have announced the end of their partnership with coach Filipe Luís. The decision was made public after the team's 8-0 win over Madureira in the Carioca Championship, a result that secured qualification for the final.

According to the announcement, the dismissal came as a result of the performance at the beginning of this season, where Flamengo lost two consecutive finals: the Brazilian Super Cup against Corinthians and the Recopa Sudamericana against Lanús.

Filipe Luís had held this position since September 2024. During his tenure, he led the team in 99 matches and won six trophies, including the Copa Libertadores.

Despite the success in the last match, the board of directors assessed that recent results in major competitions dictated the need for a change in the technical bench.
