Red card against Gjimshiti, Sassuolo makes the big surprise with 10 players

Sassuolo defeated Atalanta 2-1 at the Mapei Stadium, despite playing with one less player for more than 75 minutes.

Andrea Pinamonti was sent off in the 19th minute for a harsh tackle on Gjimshiti, but the home team took the lead in the 23rd minute through Koné after a corner kick.

Atalanta had several chances in the first half, but goalkeeper Muric kept Sassuolo ahead. In the second half, Kristian Thorstvedt doubled the lead in the 69th minute with a long-range shot.

The hosts narrowed the gap in the 88th minute with Yunus Musah, but failed to equalize.

In the end, Sassuolo secured its fifth win in its last six league games and moves up to eighth place with 38 points. Atalanta holds seventh place with 45 points.
