Elections in Kosovo/ Kikia: In the Northern areas, the process is not controlled

Journalist Mentor Kikia commented today on the local election process in Kosovo.

In a television appearance, Kikia focused mainly on the situation in the Northern areas, emphasizing that the process is no longer controlled by Belgrade politicians, as a significant impasse in the recognition of institutions has been overcome.

Kikia compared the situation to a few years ago, when Serbs not only did not recognize the institutions, but also did not accept Kosovo license plates for their vehicles.

"We come from a period when areas called communes and municipalities, due to nationalisms because they are also inhabited by Serbs, have become separate units. They went to elections or not, if Belgrade wanted or not. The fact that they do not recognize the state, elections and institutions of Kosovo has been overcome. Because they also want to take power from them. Within the framework of this division, in units with a Serb majority, Serbs will be the ones who lead. It is important that they will be mandated by Kosovo institutions. They will not be commanded by politicians in Belgrade. An important impasse towards the formalization of institutions in the Northern areas will be overcome, where until a governing mandate, it was almost impossible to remember this. Serbs did not even accept to have Kosovo license plates. I believe that important steps have been made," said Kikia./CNA
