The election campaign for the head of the municipality has officially started today in Himare. The campaign will last only one week, and as a result it will be one of the shortest campaigns ever developed in our country. It will last until the 2nd of August, on the 3rd there will be election silence, while on the 4th there will be voting.
The Socialist Party competes for the head of the municipality of Himara with Vangjel Tavo, while the Democratic Party, which is in coalition with several other parties, competes with Petro Gjikurina.
These elections are held only for the mayor, after Fredi Beleri was sentenced to two years in prison for buying votes.
Vangjel Tavo, the candidate of the Socialist Party will be ranked first on the ballot, while the candidate proposed by the Together We Win coalition, Petro Gjikuria, will be ranked second.
About 22,000 voters are registered in Himarë municipality, but only 7,000 voters voted in the last local elections./CNA
