The Assembly will toughen the legislation for online media and the Criminal Code in the provisions related to cybercrime, attacks, insults and aggressiveness in social networks.

This was announced by Speaker of Parliament Lindita Nikola in a reaction to the self-poisoning of a 41-year-old woman in Durrës, due to bullying on the social network "TikTok".

In a press release, she requests that the justice authorities punish the perpetrators of the incident.

"A mother of four sacrificed herself because of denigration on social media. The children and the husband lost their most beloved man, who had called them to enjoy the holidays together.

I call on the justice bodies to give the perpetrators the maximum punishment they deserve.

This tragic event should serve as a strong appeal for society and institutions.

The Assembly will immediately reconsider, with priority, the tightening of the legislation for online media and the Criminal Code, especially the provisions related to cybercrime, attacks, insults and aggressiveness in social networks.

Law enforcement agencies must react faster, with more force and efficiency to prevent such cases, which occur before the eyes of the entire society and cause tragic events and family trauma.
