The head of the Agrarian Environmentalist Party, Agron Duka, made a proposal for the opposition this Thursday.

Through an official statement, the Duke has expressed the necessity for an organization of the Albanian opposition.

He brings back the idea of ??the Federation and says that the dialogue within the opposition camp should return.

The head of PAA emphasizes that in order to change, personal interests must be put aside and new ways must be sought to return to a necessary normality.

Duke's full statement:

Let's organize the opposition. In front of the corrupt government, we need a reliable alternative!

Beyond the beautiful decor that the government tries to paint, the situation in the country is critical. It is not simply a matter of economic crisis, high prices and even further impoverishment of the poor and middle class.

It is a crisis of trust in politics. Lack of hope that things here can change for the better. And this affects the creation of an even greater pessimism among young people, who choose indifference to politics, or choose to abandon their country and family.

A dysfunctional parliament, widespread corruption in every branch of government, an absolute power in the hands of an individual, the inability to make fair elections, a deformed electoral system, a majority that is economically empowered at the expense of public wealth, an opposition that is weakening every year and, an economy that is increasingly concentrated in the hands of a handful of people near the government... This is the real picture with which we enter 2024, a year before the general election.

All this is not a bolt from the open sky. The major political crossroads that spurred other anomalies was produced by the 2008 constitutional changes.

If we want something to really change, for parliament to return to normality, for politics to have authority, to inspire citizens and to work for the benefit of the public interest, we must, with the greatest seriousness, commit ourselves to bringing the Reform to an end Electoral. We must deal with the causes of the crisis, not the consequences. A comprehensive electoral reform that represents the voice and interests of citizens, we seek and welcome the advice of international partners, to find a solution that produces understanding between all parties. This should be our primary commitment for 2024, so that in 2025 Albanians can vote freely and choose the best for themselves and their country.

Therefore, the early proposals of the Agrarian Environmentalist Party, various opposition factors, as well as civil society, for truly open lists, enabling diaspora voting and improving the management of the electoral process, should be addressed without wasting time. The Agrarian Environmentalist Party thinks that the dialogue should return within the opposition. Accusations, attacks and fights are good for making news, but they don't make the best politics.

Although the budget can be passed in 5 minutes, this does not mean that the citizens gain from this act of arrogance. Although the chairs may prevent debate, this does not mean that we have the sympathy of the Albanians. We have to change. In order to change, we must put aside personal interests and look for new ways to return to a necessary normality.

The proposal of several parties for an Opposition Federation is on the table. This is one possibility, but not the only one. We must organize ourselves to be a common voice in the face of the majority, which finds in our disagreements its strength and arrogance.

We as PAA are ready to take this step!

The opposition is not only the members of DP, PR, PAA or other opposition parties. The opposition is bigger. The opposition is all those citizens who are punished by the government's fiscal policies, by the brutal increase in taxes and by rampant corruption.

But if anyone thinks that those people who are against the government are automatically supporters of the opposition, they are wrong.

They should look not simply at parties that criticize, accuse and insult, but at a governing, serious and reliable alternative. A corrupt government does not fall by attacking it, but by fighting to create fair rules of the game and creating trust in citizens./ CNA
