Tensions in the City Council / Dorian Teliti for CNA TV: Veliaj learned to have
The vice-president of the democratic Municipal Council, Dorian Teliti

The last meeting of the Capital City Council was closed in a record time, in just 4 minutes, while it was accompanied by numerous tensions between the opposition councilors and those of the majority.

The vice-president of the democratic Municipal Council, Dorian Teliti, in an interview for CNA TV, stated that these are maneuvers of the socialists, to stop the opposition.

"We are there to protest, we are not there to govern. They are there to govern Tirana. We are there to oppose their work. Veliaj could not bear not having the hall under control anymore. He had been used to having the hall for 4 years empty. We are not a facade opposition. We are there to raise the problems and concerns of the people."

Teliti also spoke about the arrests in the municipality of Tirana, saying that the mayor Erion Veliaj must account for the affair of the incinerators.

"12 million euros are taken to pay for the incinerators again this year. The incinerator does not exist, the Mayor himself has admitted. Why are you taking the money from me for the incinerator? The established fee of 29 euros per ton includes both storage and incineration. in December, 23 oppositionists, out of 61, requested an urgent meeting of the Municipal Council. Did the meeting take place? No! We were asking for discussions on the incinerator issue, after the director of public works had been arrested."

The Democrat also listed some of the main problems that concern the citizens of Tirana, currently, as some of the reasons why the opposition wants the Municipality of Tirana to bear responsibility.

"What did the mayor not want to discuss? That we will pay property tax 53% more than in 2023? Because of the fact that 2/3 of the total budget of the municipality goes to salaries and operating expenses? About the missing roads? Because of the fact that it rains for 15 minutes and the whole of Tirana floods? The mayor will not discuss public transport? There were a lot of acts that should not have been passed. They should have been rejected because they had been passed without a public consultation procedure, contrary to the public interest. They conflict with our economic and monetary interests. The areas of Tirana do not have any public kindergartens or nurseries."

Meanwhile, Teliti said that the Democratic Party will convene the National Council in the coming days to discuss the continuation of the opposition action./ CNA
