During the meeting with the representatives of the banking system, Prime Minister Edi Rama issued an ultimatum to the second-tier banks, and drew attention to the Bank of Albania. 

Rama expressed his determination that the banks in the country should carry out the process for pensioners to receive their money in the bank, we should see a decrease in cash in circulation and we should see a real increase in money and a real increase in income.

He further stated that the Bank of Albania has the responsibility for these points to be realized and that there should be a supervision and innovation mechanism. 

"We cannot be a country where the banks remain far from the needs of the economy, where it comes to the safety and efficiency of transactions. Even direct payments are mostly with traditional methods. We are very focused on information. The law has written in black and white that in January of this year all second-tier banks should have implemented the application of "OpenBanking" protocols. January was a recurring deadline.
