The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Andis Salla, following the round of hearings with farmers for the drafting of the 2026 National Scheme, held meetings in the Shkodra Region.

During the hearing with farmers, Salla emphasized that the goal remains to create a farmers' union to benefit 100% from EU funds.

"Together with the mayor, we are thinking about creating a union of farmers related to another economy. I want us to be united in larger farms in order to fully benefit from the funds. The municipality must step into the role of guarantor of your work. We have the models in the ministry, but we want to spread them to other areas of the country. All of us, with the municipality and the government guarantee of 250 million euros, a guarantee that allows you to apply for loans with 2% interest and each one takes the work to another level", - emphasized Salla.

Mayor Benet Beci emphasized the local government's commitment to rural areas and encouraging farmers.

"Those transformations that are coming to Shkodra cannot be done without strong support for rural development and without relying on you in the investments you make. It is part of the city's development chain. If support is maximized by the ministry, all of this will be guaranteed development," said Beci. 

The round of hearings for the National Scheme 2026 will continue in other regions of the country, with the aim of ensuring that support policies are built on the direct contribution of farmers and in accordance with European Union standards./ CNA
