The former Deputy Minister of Finance, Sherefedin Shehu, has accused the government of the Llogara tunnel, which was opened on Friday.

Shehu claims that the Llogara tunnel is an anti-economic investment due to the cost of the works and the opening only for the summer season and for the shortened travel schedule.

He declares on social networks that the tunnel does not shorten the road by 35 minutes, as Prime Minister Edi Rama said, but only by 15 minutes.

According to him, the tunnel has no connection with the blue corridor and was not designed and implemented as part of it.

Full statement:

The Llogara tunnel is the most anti-economic investment:

1. Higher cost due to difficulty and mismanagement: no competition and overseen by thieves.

2. It does not cut 35 minutes as Rama says, but only 15 minutes as Google says (see the picture).

3. It is for seasonal and not year-round use.

This does not mean that I am against tunnels, but there should be a strategy and sequence for their construction.

The tunnel is not connected to the blue corridor and was not designed and implemented as part of it.

Saranda or the southern end has the Kardhiq-Delvin business tunnel that was built by the DP.

For business purposes, the road Elbasan-Berat-Përmet-Tepelën-Ura e Kardhiqi had to be continued.

Albania lacks the East-West or Korçë-Durra corridors that should have been completed at least in 2016.

The government was supposed to have finished the Arbri Street that was being implemented in 2013 all but the tunnel.

And worst of all, Rama brags about the tunnel when in 12 years he has built only 20 km of roads, including these and others that he is doing with "summer" money.
