One of the secretaries of Lulzim Basha's phantom party, Alfrida Marku, in an appearance for the media, denounced the country's municipalities for abuse of funds and non-realization of investments.

Marku said that 55% of the capital investments, worth 208 million euros, were not implemented throughout the year 2023 by the municipalities.

She stated that in most of the municipalities there is no trace of delayed investments or even planned new investments.

"55% of the capital investments, worth 208 million euros, planned to be implemented throughout the year 2023 in 61 Municipalities in our country, have not been realized, carrying the funds from one budget year to another; postponing in time the realization of necessary investments for which the citizens have paid the bill of taxes and local fees.

Today, when we are at the end of the fifth month of the budget year, in most of the municipalities there is no trace of the delayed investments or even the new investments foreseen.

Municipalities must be transparent and have the obligation to account for why 208 million euros paid by the citizens of 61 municipalities, or 55% of the planned capital investments, are kept in abeyance: - inability of the administration to implement the projects? - order not to act otherwise? - or plans to delay the implementation of projects and their liquidation, as close as possible to the election period?

Following with concern the aggravated state of services and the lack of investments, the corruption that has become a priority in the Municipalities in the country, the Democratic Party and its representatives in the municipal councils, guarantee the citizens to always engage in support of the public interest, denouncing every case abuse, and we encourage the competent authorities to bring to justice any official of the local or central administration, elected or appointed, who abuses authority, public trust by abusing citizens' taxes", emphasized the secretary of Basha's phantom party./ CNA
