The plenary session, the last for this session, ended in the early hours of Friday morning. The Assembly of Albania approved the 3 draft laws that have been the headlines of the last few days. 

With 71 votes in favor, 23 against and no abstentions, the bill for medical students was approved. Medical students will sign an agreement that they will work in Albania for 5 years after graduation.

Meanwhile, the draft law on the legalization of medical cannabis was also voted, with 69 votes in favor, 23 against and 3 abstentions. Socialist MPs Fatmir Xhafaj, Pandeli Majko and Erjon Braçe abstained from this bill.

The head of the Academy of Sciences will now be allowed to have a second term. The Assembly of Albania approved yesterday with 70 votes in favor, 23 against and 2 abstentions the bill for the Academy of Sciences. With the new law, the mayor Skënder Gjinushi will be allowed a second term as well as the age limit to 75 years./CNA.al
