Rama: Small countries most affected by global risks

Prime Minister Edi Rama stated during his speech at the Conference of the World Organization of Insurance Supervisors that global risks such as climate change, cyber interference, and market volatility require a quick solution.

He stated that at this moment the insurance industry is facing the challenge of turning risk into resilience and security. The head of government further added that small countries are also those that suffer the most from the consequences of global risks.

"At a time when we find ourselves surrounded by risks more than borders, Climate change, cyber threats and market volatility require us to come up with innovative solutions. The window to meet climate targets is closing very quickly. At this defining moment, it is pertinent that the insurance industry is faced with a challenge and facing difficult choices to turn risk into resilience and security. Today's risks are interconnected. To ensure a sustainable future, we must embrace a holistic approach to resilience. For smaller economies, the consequences of global risks are amplified. Recent years have shown us how quickly crises endanger our countries. We may not foresee every catastrophe, but we can work to recover. The digital evolution we are going through aims to create more efficient and sustainable markets, including insurance ," said Rama. /CNA
